Before the Honeymoon Begins

Updated: Apr 6, 2022

As much fun as looking forward to the honeymoon can be, let's make sure the wedding comes off without a hitch.

Start with a Solid Plan

I can't stress this point enough. Good planning is the key to great events. Understand exactly how you want your day to progress and create plans to make that happen. Choosing the right dress is just the first step. Well, perhaps choosing the right spouse is the first step, but you get the idea! Maybe you don't even know where to start. I have a few helpful lists I can share with you. Let's talk.

Have a plan B and a plan C

Things are going to go off track at some point with every event. It's just a fact of life. When you have a contingency plan, it goes from a disaster to a tiny blip on your radar. Take the time to think out potential problems and create your backup plans. Recently we hosted an reception, and an unexpected downpour happened just as people were arriving. Because the bride was prepared, ushers greeted guests with golf umbrellas and walked them to the large awning over our entrance. Our large paved parking area meant no muddy dress shoes or stuck vehicles too. Even planning where your event will take place can have a huge impact on the outcome. Maybe you won't even need them, but you'll sleep much better with backup plans in place, and you'll look beautifully rested in your wedding pictures.

Accept Help or Hire an Expert

As the bride, or even mother of the bride, your job is to be present and enjoy the day. Enlist help with the execution of the day. Be very clear about what you expect, and then let that person handle all the little details. Make sure they have your list, and a timeline of what is supposed to happen and when. Then you are free to enjoy the wedding and that's exactly what you should do.
